A bit down and out today notwithstanding the fact that is almost the end of the work week!!!Phew.
The other day, Janki, my elder one, was having a heart to heart with me. She said that while she had met someone who became her best friend, that girl soon became someone else’s best friend all in the span of 5 minutes. Being the older and supposedly more wiser woman in this conversation, I told her not to get disheartened and that she would soon meet someone with whom she could share all her secrets, worries ,joys and more with.
Which got me thinking. Working 5 days a week for 8 hours a day, by the time you get home, you are already trying to make up for all the lost time with your kids that there really is no time to socialize. If by some miracle, the kids do fall asleep early, by that point of time, all you want to do is curl up in bed with a good book. The thought of getting dressed again, putting on those heels just seems a travesty.
And the weekends, are a whole other ball game. Its spent trying to catch up on all the housework/school work/taking the kids from one extra curricular activity to the next, because after all, you need them to be well rounded dnt you?
Time, energy to socialize, make friends of your own to share your secrets, worries and joys and more with, all these things are still elusive to me. The cherry on top being that in Dubai there is a sense of temporariness everywhere. Here today, gone tomorrow. Someone you might meet today, might be relocating after 3 months. So yalla, whats the point?
Nevertheless, I strive on in my mission to be successful, socially. Hence if anyone reading this post wants to have a drink with me, you know where to find me. 🙂
Cheers to all.
